Moment of Truth: Obligatory Unpatriotic... →
mattmoment: Last month I sold $81,000 in ukuleles and tiny drum sets. In this economy, that’s no mean feat. My commission of that (I don’t mind sharing) was $5282.03 Last night, my bank account received a deposit of $3778.06 I am not, I repeat *not*, a “raise my taxes lose my vote” person. I’m all about…

Hipsters don't believe in the census.  →
lookatthisfuckinghipster: “What’s the point to be counted if you dont count for much anyway?” I have never literally facepalmed at my generation so hard in my life.  I’m pretty sure that zombie Thomas Jefferson just rose from the grave and blew his own brains out.

“To all who operate cash registers: PLEASE give back the bills folded as origami...”
– Reddit (via nickdouglas) BREAKING: An unknown reddit user has become self-aware, apparently noting that he/she might be perceived as an asshole in a social situation.  More on this as the story develops.

“Properly understood, Christianity is by no means the opiate of the people.  It’s more like the smelling salts.” - Tim Keller, The Prodigal God. Speaking as someone who doesn’t really read/find worthwhile a lot of books you would find in Christian bookstores, I do have to highly recommend this one.  I find it pretty easy to read and engaging; Keller writes with a humble...

[Bible] James 5:19-20
“My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.” - James 5:19-20 Just got this passage from my friend John earlier tonight.  The last two verses that end the book are especially powerful to me - a beautiful promise,...

Introspective cat has been introspective.
Feel like you’ve wronged important people in your life?  Talk to them directly, don’t post things on the internet addressed to the world at large; do NOT go directly to failblog.  AUTOTUNE YOUR LIFE. Taking myself a little less srsly these days, with thanks to stryker, mattmoment, and other such assorted cool cats.

RTD++, Bob McD-- →
Props to the RTD’s editorial staff for this piece - as much as they may be called stuck in the past, they have the journalistic integrity to write this piece.  Perhaps things like this will teach the Democrats and Republicans how not to run a campaign on the state-wide level; I conscientiously objected to the tenor of the gubernatorial campaign last time and stayed home.  I somewhat regret...

Joan of Arc →
mattmoment: Though I don’t support the idea that G-d sanctions war, I still want to repost this because I love the crap out of Joan of Arc. The idea that someone who was both a child and a girl could accomplish so much without societies ordinance is riveting and endearing to me beyond measure. click on EXTERNAL CONTENT to see the scan of a letter she actually sent. The link that worked for...

So like, work.
Sometimes I complain about it, and sometimes it may have sounded like I feel stuck at Starbucks?  But work has been pretty great lately; the boss and I really click; I feel like she’s gonna be kinda bff for a while.  I mean, we each have a rough weekend with me working into overtime and her being sick as all get out - today, Monday, she opens, I’m her third in, and we go out afterwards...
